Love was in the air thisweekend as Sony's romantic comedy 50 First Dates enjoyed a string of number one bows through ColumbiaTriStar Film Distributors International (CTFDI), grossing $7.8m on 2,444screens to raise its international running total to $36.3m.

The picture was number onein its first four days in Germany but eventually ceded the top spot toMiramax's Kill Bill Vol 2, taking$2.5m on 664 screens.

It opened top in Spain on$982,000 from 288 and top in Austria on $471,000 from 84. Star Adam Sandlerenjoyed his biggest ever bow in Switzerland as 50 First Dates opened top of the pile on $374,000 from 58.

In two other table-toppers,the picture grossed $223,000 on 55 in Portugal and $265,000 on 28 in Singaporefor another Sandler record.

The comic book adaptation Hellboy maintained its perfect record of five number onebows from five openings as Thailand and the Philippines opened top on $695,00on 150 and $320,000 on 69 respectively.

Overall Hellboy added $1.2m on 304 screens for an early $3.1mrunning total.

The thriller SecretWindow opened top in Mexico on$628,000 on 300 and top in Greece on $200,000 on 43. It raised itsinternational running total by $4.1m on 1,916 to $15.8m.
