On the eve of the AFM, UK distributor Momentum Pictures has acquired UK rights to vampire thriller Dead Cert from Moviehouse Entertainment.

The deal was negotiated by Moviehouse’s Gary Phillips with Momentum’s Robert Walak.

Now shooting in London and set for completion early 2010, Dead Cert is produced by Jonathan Sothcott via his Black & Blue Films, in which he is a partner with British actors Billy Murray and Martin Kemp. Steve Lawson (Just For The Record) is directing.

The film stars Craig Fairbrass together with Murray, Steven Berkoff, Lisa McAllister, Dexter  Fletcher and Jason Flemyng.

Moviehouse Entertainment is screening a promo of the film to buyers in Santa Monica. “We are absolutely thrilled to have Momentum get Dead Cert. The footage looks superb and they’re perfectly placed to release the film in the UK,” commented Phillips.

In another pre-AFM deal, Moviehouse have sold UK rights on Baseline to Optimum Releasing. The film is directed by Brendon O’Loughlin and stars Jamie Foreman, Dexter Fletcher, Zoe Tapper and Freddie Connor. It follows a London nightclub manager immersed in a murky world of gangsters and revenge. Baseline is in post-production and will be released in the UK in 2010.

In addition, Kaleidoscope Films have picked up UK Rights to Beacon 77. The film is produced and directed by Janice De La Mare and Brad Watson who collaborated previously on Asylum Night via their Revolt Films.
