Tony Kaye’s drama premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and stars Adrien Brody as a gifted teacher who connects with a class of disillusioned youths.

Tribeca Film plans a 2012 release via a multi-city theatrical engagement that will run day-and-date with nationwide VOD and digital distribution. DVD, pay-TV and a range of other platforms will follow.

Celluloid Dreams holds international rights. Mongrel Media will distribute in Canada in 2012 and Pretty Pictures will release in France.

Detachment also stars Christina Hendricks, James Caan, Marcia Gay Harden, Lucy Liu, Blythe Danner, Tim Blake Nelson, Bryan Cranston, William Petersen and newcomers Betty Kaye and Sami Gayle.

Paper Street Films’ Austin Stark, Benji Kohn, Chris Papavasiliou and Bingo Gubelmann produced with Kingsgate Films’ Greg Shapiro and Carl Lund. Brody served as executive producer alongside Peter Sterling and Andre Laport.

Nick Savva and Randy Manis negotiated for Tribeca Film with ICM, which also represents Kaye.
