He will take on the role of senior vice president Latin American marketing and distribution for UPI.

Mauricio Durán has been promoted to senior vice president of Latin American marketing and distribution for Universal Pictures International (UPI).

Durán joined UPI in 2007 as vice president of marketing and distribution for Latin America, overseeing the release of the 2010 Latin American box office smash Despicable Me and playing a key role in negotiating the distribution agreement between UPI and Warner Bros Mexico.

Previously, he was associate general manager for Sony and Disney’s joint venture.

He will report to UPI’s executive VP distribution Duncan Clark, who described Duran as “a significant driver of our success in Latin America.”
