Crusader Entertainment, LLC, has formed Epiphany Films, to develop and produce independent feature films with spiritual and religious themes.

The announcement was made by Howard Baldwin, president and CEO of Crusader Entertainment, who also announced that Dr. Bob Beltz has been appointed director of special projects for Epiphany. Dr. Beltz, an ordained minister, will concentrate on marketing Epiphany's films to the emerging Christian market.

Epiphany Films' first release, Joshua, (based on the novel by Joseph Girzone), was directed by Jon Purdy (Star Portal, Dillinger And Capone) with a screenplay by Brad Mirman and Keith Giglio. The film stars Tony Goldwyn (Bounce, An American Rhapsody, Ghost), as a charismatic stranger whose arrival has a profound impact on a small town, bringing the community together in unforeseen ways. Set for release in select US cities on April 19, Joshua also stars F. Murray Abraham (Finding Forrester, 13 Ghosts, Amadeus) and Giancarlo Giannini (Hannibal).

"We believe it is appropriate that a special and specific brand be created for those movies dealing with overtly spiritual themes. There's a real desire for entertainment that is spiritually rewarding, meaningful and inspirational," said Baldwin. "

Joshua was produced by Howard and Karen Baldwin and Paul Pompian and co-produced by Dr. Bob Beltz and Nick Morton.
