The European Commission gives Spain’s national film fund the green light.
The European Commission has given the green light to Spain’s new national film fund worth $800m (€576m) over the next five years, which will be effective from October.
As part of the Ministerial Order, producers will be able to access up to $1.1m (€800,000) per project based on a film’s commercial success, including festival awards and internet downloads, as well as up to a further $1.7m (€1.2m) towards development.
“This scheme should improve the visibility and popularity of Spanish independent films not only in Spain but worldwide, without unduly distorting competition,” said Neelie Kroes (pictured), European competition commissioner.
