President of international Alex Walton announced the company has licensed the JFK drama to Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) for Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Iceland, Greece, Turkey and Latin America.

Walton negotiated with SPWA’s evp of business affairs Michael Helfand, svp of acquisitions Joe Matukewicz and vp of business development Jon Freedberg.

In separate deals, Roadshow will distribute in Australia and New Zealand, Metropolitan in France, RAI in Italy, United King in Israel, Golden Harvest in Hong Kong, Tanweer in India and Pakistan, PT Amero in Indonesia, Captive in the Philippines, Golden Village in Singapore, Catchplay in Taiwan, M Pictures in Thailand and ACME in the Baltic States.

Zac Efron, Marcia Gay Harden, Billy Bob Thornton, Jacki Weaver, Paul Giamatti and Colin Hanks star in Parkland, which recounts the chaotic events that occurred at Parkland Hospital in Dallas on the day President John F Kennedy was assassinated on Nov 22 1963.

Peter Landesman makes his feature directorial debut. Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman are producing with Bill Paxton and financiers Exclusive Media and The American Film Company.

Parkland is currently shooting in Austin, Texas, and the plan is to coordinate global distribution in November to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the assassination.
