Fifth Column Films will self-release its latest feature, Tempest, starting on Oct 26 in the UK.

Rob Curry and Anthony Fletcher directed the docudrama, which is described as “a celebration of contemporary urban youth culture, and a 21st Century re-imagining of Shakespeare’s last great play.” The story follows 17 South London teenagers as they grapple to stage Shakespeare’s work. The film is five years in the making.

In addition to a release theatrically, the film will also screen at the first Shakespeare Film Festival in Stratford-Upon-Avon on Oct 26 and will screen as part of National Schools Film Week (Oct 16-26) and at the Barbican’s Frame Film Festival in November.

Fifth Column did a similar self release with Tim Plester’s feature documentary Way of the Morris in 2011. That release played on more than 40 screens.
