Andrew Herwitz's The Film Sales Company has acquired worldwide sales rights excluding the UK and US distribution rights to Isaac Julien's documentary Derek.

The film received its world premiere here last Saturday and explores the life and work of the late UK artist and film-maker Derek Jarman. Tilda Swinton narrates the film which will have its European premiere in Berlin.

Funded by Film London, Channel 4, MoMA and the Sundance Documentary Fund, the film was produced by Eliza Mellor and Colin MacCabe, while Swinton and James Mackay served as executive producers.

The Film Sales Company plans a 2008 US release and will introduce the title to buyers in Berlin next month when it gets its European premiere in the Panorama section.
