The film charts the LSD-fueled 1964 bus journey of author Ken Kesey and his cohorts, including Jack Kerouac's notorious sidekick Neal Cassady.
Directed by Alex Gibney (Gonzo: The Life And Work Of Hunter S. Thompson), the film is currently in production and will be completed next year. Optimum Releasing's Will Clarke is producing with Phoenix Wiley is on board as executive producer.
The film will use the nearly one 100 hours of 16mm footage and audio recordings taken by Kesey and the group called the Merry Pranksters who accompanied him on the trip. It will also feature music from the time from artists such as Chuck Berry and the Grateful Dead.
Fortissimo previously handled music docs Shine A Light, CSNY Dejà vu and Berlin. Fortissimo EVP Nicole Mackey brokered the deal for world rights with Clarke.
