Fortissimo Film Sales has picked up world sales rights to The Eye II, the sequel to Danny and Oxide Pang's stylish horror hit The Eye.

"We are thrilled at the level of interest from buyers. In many cases we have had bids even before the first film has been released in their territories," said Fortissimo co-chief Wouter Barendrecht. "It shows great confidence in the combination of producer Peter Chan, Applause Pictures and the Pang brothers."

The film will be delivered this autumn. The first film was sold to Palm Pictures for the US and was acquired for remake last year by Cruise Wagner. The Eye II joins an already bulging slate of pictures ready for the Cannes market. These include Wong Kar Wai's 2046, Peter Greenaway's Tulse Luper Suitcases, Pen-Ek Ratanaruang's Last Life In The Universe, Sue Brooks' Japanese Story, Alex van Warmerdam's Grimm and Yongyooth Thongkonthun's Iron Ladies II.
