German distributors Kool Filmdistribution, Arsenal Filmverleih and Piffl Medien have unveiled a number of deals concluded during at the Cannes Film Festival.

Freiburg-based Kool Filmdistribution acquired German rights to Belgian actor-director Bouli Lanners' tragicomic roadmovie Eldorado, which screened in the Directors' Fortnight and won the Europa Cinemas label for Best European Film.

In addition, another film starring Bouli Lanners, Gustave Kervern and Benoit Delepine's comedy Louise-Michel, was bought by Kool.

At the same time, Arsenal Filmverleih picked up Nuri Bilge Ceylan's competition title Three Monkeys which was awarded the Best Director prize by the jury headed by Sean Penn, while Piffl Medien secured rights for the Dardenne brothers' Lorna's Silence, the winner of the best screenplay honours in the Official Competition.

Meanwhile, Munich-based Tiberius Film signed deals for Book Of Blood, based on the Clive Barker horror book series, from Essential Entertainment; Romanian filmmaker Horatiu Malaele's 1950s-set comedy Silent Wedding from Bac Films; and Mischa Barton's serial murder thriller Walled In.
