Newfeature films by Marco Kreuzpaintner, Fatih Akin, Peter Timm and Ben Verbong are among 11 projects backed with over $5.7m (Euros4.8m) by the German Federal Film Board in its latest funding session.

Thelargest amount $961,399 (Euros 800,0000) went to Kreuzpaintner'sadaptation of the children's classic Krabat for Claussen + Woebke Filmproduktion, while$841,365 (Euros 700,000) each were allocated to Peter Timm'ssequel of his 1995 racing pig comedy Rennschwein Rudi Ruessel, Ben Verbong's familyfilm Herr Bello,Rat Pack Filmproduktion's sequel to its box officehit Der Wixxer, Neues Vom Wixxer,and Philipp Stoelzl's Nordwand, an Alpine drama set in 1936 with Benno Fuermann (Merry Christmas) and Johanna Wokalek (Barefoot).

Inaddition, $480,780 (Euros 400,000) was awarded to Akin for his next featureproject after the Golden Bear-winner Head-On,Auf Der Anderen Seite Des Lebens, to beproduced by his own company Corazon International, and $180,285 (Euros 150,000)to Robert Thalheim's second feature Am Ende Kommen Touristen to beproduced by Hans-Christian Schmid's 23/5 Filmproduktion on location in Poland this summer.
