As the COMIC-COM comic-book convention gets underway in San Diego,Paris-based producer Samuel Hadida has announced his Davis Films is movingahead on the epic adventure adaptation Solomon Kane.

Based on the fantasy bestseller The Savage Tales Of SolomonKane by Robert E Howard,whose creations include Conan The Barbarian and King Kull, the story centres on a mercenary whosells his soul to the devil and tries to redeem himself by fighting evil.

Hadida and his producing partner on the project, Wandering Star principalPaul Berrow, plan to commence shooting in 2007 in Eastern Europe and have hiredBritish director Michael Bassett to adapt the screenplay and direct.

Bassett's credits include the 2002 WW I trench horror drama Deathwatch and the upcoming survival horror story Wilderness.

Additionally Davis Films and Wandering Star have partnered with ParadoxEntertainment, owners of the entire Howard library, on a publishing deal withDark Horse Comics to launch a Solomon Kane comic serial.

In a further development Hadida has signed a deal with Great WhiteGames to develop a role-playing video game based on the film.

Howard, a Texas-born author who committed suicide aged 30 in 1936,commands a cult following and will be the subject of a tribute panel atCOMIC-CON.

Davis Films' recent productions include the horror video gameadaptations Silent Hilland the Resident Evilfranchise, and Tony Scott's adventure biopic Domino.
