Michel Hazanavicius has won the DGA’s Outstanding Directorial Achievement In Feature Film award for The Artist, official cementing his status as the favourite to claim the Oscar.

James Marsh won the Outstanding Directorial Achievement In Documentary for Sundance 2011 entry Project Nim.

Previously announced lifetime achievement awards were given to Ed Sherin, Katy Garretson, and Dennis Mazzocco.

The awards ceremony took place in Los Angeles on Saturday night (28).
