here! Films has acquired North American rights from Enlightenment Films to Shamim Sarif's The World Unseen, which plays in official selection at Outfest 2008: The 26th Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.

Sister company Regent Releasing will launch the film in autumn. The World Unseen takes place in Apartheid-era South Africa and centres on a rebellious cafe owner who finds herself attracted to a young mother after a fateful encounter.

The Enlightenment Productions film in association with DO Producitons was written, directed, produced and financed entirely by women. Sheetal Sheth and Lisa Ray star and Hanan Kattan produced and Lisa Tchenguiz-Imerman and Katherine Priestley served as executive producers.

Regent's West Coast general manager and executive vice president of distribution and acquisitions Mark Reinhart negotiated the deal with Enlightenment.
