Korean auteur director Hong Sang-soo has commenced shooting his ninth film, which is a high-definition (HD) project with a budget of less than $100,000, according to his production house Jeonwonsa.

The film stars Kim Tae-woo, who was previously in Hong's Woman Is The Future Of Man and Woman On The Beach, as well as Um Ji-won who was in his Tale Of Cinema and Go Hyun-jung who was in Woman On The Beach.

The film is tentatively titled Jal Aljidoh Mot-hamyunsuh in Korean, which roughly translates to 'Without Even Knowing Properly'.

The story follows a film director, played by Kim, who goes to the Jecheon International Music Film Festival (JIMFF) as a jury member and meets a festival programmer played by Um, then goes on to Jeju Island to give a special lecture where he meets the wife of an older friend, played by Go.

The film started shooting in Jecheon at the beginning of the month and will shoot at the upcoming JIMFF (Aug 14-19), with a Jeju shoot to follow. The filmmakers plan to wrap shooting Sept 9 and to complete post-production in late November or early December.

Distributor, sales agent and festival plans are yet to be decided.
