Indian multiplex operator Inox Leisure has made its first foray into production with Hindi film Morning Walk starring Anupam Kher and Sharmila Tagore.

Produced under the banner of Inox Motion Pictures, the film is directed by Arup Dutta and also stars Rajit Kapoor, Divya Dutta and Shayan Munshi. It is scheduled for release on June 26.

Alok Tandon, director, Inox Motion Pictures, said: “Morning Walk marks our foray into production. We are just concentrating on our first film for now but we are in touch with people and looking at scripts so if the opportunity arises we will not shy away from other ventures.”

Tandon added that the company chose Morning Walk as its first project as it’s a family film which is a good fit with the Inox brand.

As the film is a test case for the company, Tandon says no budgets have been allocated for the production business as of now. Inox currently operates 27 multiplexes with 97 screens in 20 cities. It also has a strong distribution presence and was the first multiplex chain to finance a Hindi film when it invested in Mangal Pandey.
