Los Angeles-based film-maker Jason Neff has started production for his new documentary Jock for Innerview Entertainment and Ellman Entertainment.

The feature-length documentary about female horse racing jockeys will be directed by Neff and produced by Neff and Linda Ellman (On Native Soil).

Jock is planned for a 2009 release to celebrate the 40th anniversary ofwomen earning the right to ride.

The film is backed by the International Documentary Association and public donations.

Jock will feature jockeys including Mary Bacon, Robyn Smith, Barbara Joe Rubin and Patti PJ Cooksey.

Neff, who comes from a family of jockeysand horse trainers,said: 'Jock will peel back the brightly colored silks and race day pageantry of the Sport of Kings, revealing the dangerous world of thoroughbred horse racing by telling the story of the female jockeys who waged a gallant fight for the right to ride.'

The production has launched a website with online community at www.jockthemovie.com.
