The list of submissions for the Foreign Language Oscar keeps growing as Jordan officially submits Captain Abu Raed by Amin Matalqa.

Jordan's independent submission committee selected the festival hit, which marks Jordan's first entry for the Oscars.

H.E. Mr. Munir Nassar, chairman of the Oscar Submission Committee for Jordan, said: 'These are exciting times. The mere fact that a Jordanian film will be submitted for the first time is an indication that the film industry in Jordan has matured.'

The film is about a janitor who is mistaken for an airline pilot by neighborhood children. The film was financed by Paper & Pen Films of Jordan and produced by David Pritchard of Gigapix with Amin Matalqa and Laith Majali.

Captain Abu Raed picked up awards at Sundance, Dubai, Seattle and other festivals.

Fortissimo is selling the film.
