FilmFour,the film division of broadcaster Channel 4, and production company Wild Child Films haveacquired the rights to the novel Our LadyOf The Forest, with Neil Jordan to direct.

ConorMcPherson, best known for the acclaimed play The Weir, wrote the screenplay, based on David Guterson's novelabout a troubled teenage girl who claims tohave seen an apparition of the Virgin Mary. Aimee Peyronnet will produce for Wild Child, where Ian McGloin spearheaded development.

Additionalfinancing comes from the development fund at Government-backed support body theUK Film Council, which has invested £77,098 as a joint partnership with WildChild and FilmFour.

"I am an enormous fan of Neil Jordan's and of ConorMcPherson's" said Tessa Ross, head of FilmFour. "I've no doubt that these twowill form a fantastic creative team, and will bring David Guterson's compellingnovel to life."

The deal was negotiated byUS agent Ken Sherman with Georges Borchardt Inc in New York. Jordan's latest production,Breakfast On Pluto, sold to Sony last month for markets including NorthAmerica.
