Karlovy Vary world premieres

Piggies (Pol) Competition Dir: Robert Glinski. Poland's Glinski, best know for the award-winning 2001 film Hi! Tereska, directs this drama about a boyin a rundown Polish border town who turns to prostitution so he can earn money to impress a girl.
Angel At Sea (Bel) Competition Dir: Federic Dumont. The feature debut of Belgian film-maker Dumont, who also wrote the screenplay, is a family drama centred on a 12-year- old Moroccan boy. The fim stars Anne Consigny (the Diving Bell And The Butterfly), Olivier Gourmet (The Son) and newcomer Martin Nissen.
Applause (Den) Competition Dir: Martin Zandvliet. Danish drama about a successful actress who leaves rehab and tries to restart her life with her family on stage. Paprika Steen and Michael Falch star. Applause is Zandvliet's debut feature.
New Denmark (Can) Forum of Independents Dir Rafael Ouellet. In the third film from Quebecois director Ouellet, a young woman searches for her missing sister. Ouellet's 2008 film, Behind Me (derriere Moi), screened in San Sebastian's Zabaltegi-New Directors' section.
Devil's Town (Bos-Herz) East of the West Dir: Vladimir Paskaljevic. The feature debut film from Paskaljevic, son of the renowned Goran, Devil's Town is abou the lengths to which selfish people will go to exploit others. Lazar Ristovski, whose credits include Underground, and Slavko Stimac, one of the stars of 2008 festival hit Buick Riviera, lead the cast from the former Yugoslavia.
A Walk Worthwhile (Czech Rep) Special Event Dir: Milos Forman. The film of Forman's staging of a Czech jazz opera he directed at Prague's National Theatre in 2007. The comic story follows a woman who must find a man to father her child in order to inherit a fotrune. Originally intended for DVD, Falcon will release the film in Czech theatres in July.
Alive! (Alb) East Of The West Dir: Artan Minarolli. An Albanian university student returns to his home village to find himself embraoiled in a freud started by his grandfather. The project was first pitched at Sarajevo's CineLink co-production market in 2006. Minarolli's 2004 film, The Moonless Night, screened in Moscow, Rottersam and Pusan among other festivals.
Low Lights (Lith-Ger) East of the West Dir: Ignas Miskinis. This drama from the first-time writer-director Miskinis follows a young man whose dull routine is interrupted when he bumps into a former classmate and is taken on a noncturnal urban adventure.
