Madrid-based Kevin Williams Associates has picked up Albert Arizza’s thriller Ramirez about a lonely young night stalker and drug dealer, preying on young women he can pick up and seduce.
KWA has also acquired Mexican drama Limbo, about a 12-year-old gay boy who suffers an accident and goes to limbo, a mysterious place where he will meet a suicide lawyer and a crazy nurse, two characters that will change the life of the kid forever. The film is directed by Horacio Rivera. Limbo will receive its market premiere Cannes.
Also new on KWA’s slate is Rafael Alcazar’s flamenco documentary Los Dichos, which looks at the elaborate pre-nuptial rituals before Spanish gypsy weddings.
A fourth new title is black comedy Pajaros Muertos from Guillermo Y Jorge Sempre, a satire about ‘the limitations of a perfect bourgeois existence.’
Meanwhile, the Spanish company has been closing deals on Guillermo Arriaga-scripted and produced The Night Buffalo, starring Diego Luna. Only Hearts in Japan is closing in on the film, which screened in Sundance and San Sebastian in 2007.
