Hong Kong distribution executive Virginia Leung has joined start-up international sales outfit Distribution Workshop as head of sales.

Leung was formerly senior manager, distribution, at Hong Kong-based Mandarin Films where she oversaw international sales of films such as action hits Dragon Tiger Gate and Flash Point and Tsui Hark's recent release Missing.

She started in her new role yesterday (June 19) and will continue to be based in Hong Kong.

Established by Hong Kong industry veterans Nansun Shi and Jeffrey Chan, Distribution Workshop is backed by Beijing-based Bona International Film Group, which is also the parent company of mainland distributor-investor Polybona.

It will handle sales of productions backed by Polybona, as well as third-party acquisitions with announcements about its debut slate expected shortly.
