The Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival reveals programme highlights including the premiere of Luc Besson’s comic book adventure.

Luc Besson’s $37m (€29.5m) The Extraordinary Adventures Of Adele Blanc-Sec will have its world premiere at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival on April 9.

The French director is due to attend the festival, which will open on April 8 with Olatunde Onsunsami’s sci-fi thriller The Fourth Kind, starring Milla Jovovich.

Besson’s comic book adventure is based on the Franco-Belgian comics that were written and illustrated by artist Jacques Tardi. The story is set in Paris around the First World War and is follows the life of a popular novellist as she deals with monster, would-be suitors and other distraction. It stars Louise Bourgoin and Mathieu Amalric.

It is released in France on April 14, with international roll-out to follow.
