Maike Haas has returned to Sony following an eight-year stint at Buena Vista International Germany and has been named vice president of international production, Europe, for Sony Pictures Entertainment's International Motion Picture Production division.

Haas will oversee European operations from Berlin and identify and develop projects with a focus on German-language and pan-European features.

'We're thrilled that Maike has rejoined Sony,' president of International Motion Picture Production Deborah Schindler said. 'Her relationships throughout the European market and her fantastic story sense make her a unique and perfect choice for this role.'

'The European market as a whole and Germany in particular are critical targets for the international production group and we are excited to have Maike leading the way,' Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group vice chairman Gareth Wigan said.

As co-production and acquisitions manager at Buena Vista International Germany Haas was heavily involved with Das Leben Der Anderen (The Lives Of Others), five Die Wilden Kerle (The Wild Soccer Bunch) films and Barfuss (Barefoot) directed by Til Schweiger.

Prior to BVI, Haas worked for two years at Sony leading the script department as head of editors for Deutsche Columbia.
