The Violet Gaze willinaugurate the 7th annual Spanish Film Festival of Malaga (April 23-May 1),which is also set to honour director Fernando Trueba, distributor EnriqueGonzalez Macho and actress Geraldine Chaplin.

Directed by Nacho Perez and Jesus Ruiz (Marta AndSurroundings), Gaze (La Mirada Violeta)stars Cayetano Guillen-Cuervo in a story of female infidelity, love andrelationships. Mundo Ficcion and Violeta Films co-produce.

Gaze will be one of16 new Spanish feature films in competition at the festival, which also hostsshort film and documentary sections. A tribute to Oscar-winning director Trueba(Belle Epoque) will include aselection of his films, while Alta Films distributor-exhibitor-producer EnriqueGonzalez Macho will receive the annual Ricardo Franco Award and actressGeraldine Chaplin the honorary Malaga Prize.

Industry offerings include a three-day Market Screenings forinternational buyers, documentary market Mercadoc, a biannual DocumentaryCongress, roundtables on current issues in Spanish cinema and a Forum forProjects in development.
