MamaJack has made a record breaking opening weekend for a localfilm in South Africa with a $0.7m (R4.2m) opening

GrayHifmeyer's film, starring local comedian Leon Schuster, made a 50% biggeropening weekend than previous record holder Mr Boneswhich went on to gross more than $5m (R32m).

Producer Anant Singh said: "Mama Jack isdefinitely, Leon's best film to date. His transformation from a macho guy tothe lovable "Mama" is truly convincing.'

Mama Jack isa Videovision Entertainment release through United International Pictures (SouthAfrica) and played across South Africa in over 100 cinemas.
