US pay TV operation Showtime Networks has extended a deal with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) for current and future theatrical output, certain library titles and a commitment to co-produce three new television series.
The new deal, which builds on an existing arrangement between the two companies, will run through Dec 31, 2008. Showtime will have exclusive US pay TV rights to all MGM pictures theatrically released through Dec 31, 2008.
Among the pictures included in the deal are Autumn In New York starring Richard Gere and Winona Ryder, Dancing In The Dark with Angelina Jolie and Antonio Banderas, Hannibal with Anthony Hopkins and Julianne Moore, Outlaws with Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton and Cate Blanchett and Windtalkers with Nicolas Cage.
The deal was announced by Jim Griffiths, president MGM Worldwide Television Distribution, and Jerry Offsay, president, programming, for Showtime Networks Inc.
