France's MK2 has announced the acquisition of Julian Cole's documentary With Gilbert & George.

The film ran in the Panorama Dokumente section of the recent Berlin Festival. MK2 has taken world rights.

A moving portrait, the work traces the lives of award-winning artists Gilbert Prousch and George Passmore from their humble beginnings to the world's artistic stage.

Cole, who modeled for Gilbert & George in 1985, spent the next 18 years filming the duo and following their journey to exhibitions in such places as Russia and China while also getting an intimate view of the Spitalfields studio where they have been living and working together since 1969.
