Momentum Pictures will release the documentary in cinemas and simultaneously on 17 December via Lovefilm, Sky Box Office, iTunes, Filmflex, blinkbox, Cool Room and other video-on-demand services.
The Sundance buzz documentary will premiere on 14 December simultaneously to 250 Lovefilm customers online and in 40 cinemas in the UK. Following the screening, online and cinema-viewers can take part in a live Q+A with the film’s directors, Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman.
Filmed on-the-go using handheld cameras, Catfish charts the story of a man who builds a romantic relationship with a stranger on Facebook.
Nick Smith, head of TV and new media sales at Momentum Pictures said: “The unique release strategy that we have in place for the UK will give audiences a choice as to how they want to watch Catfish and share the experience with their friends and family. The viewing options offered by our video-on-demand and pay-per-view partners will provide a great insight into how consumers want to watch movies at a time when there is so much choice available to them.”
