Momentum Pictures has taken UK rights to Nic Balthazar's directorial debut Ben X, sold by Films Distribution.

Films Distribution executive director of worldwide sales Didar Domehri and Momentum's acquisitions manager Louis Tisne negotiated the deal.

Balthazar's directorial debut is based on the book When Nothing Was All He Said and the book Nothing. The story follows an awkward teenage boy who escapes his bullies by developing an online alter ego.

The film has won numerous festival prizes and is Belgium's submission for Oscar consideration.

Xavier Marchand, president of international distribution for Momentum's parent company Alliance Films, said: 'Ben X heralds an exceptional new voice in international film-making. Inspired by the film, we are excited about the new ways we can market to audiences through online gaming and alternative web worlds.'
