Emily Mortimer has signed on to take the place of an injured Samantha Morton in the cast of Brad Anderson's Transsiberian, now shooting for Spain's Filmax Entertainment.

According to a statement released by Filmax, Morton was injured in an accident in her London home and will resume her production schedule in 2007, starting with Charlie Kaufman's Synecdoche.

Mortimer joins previously announced cast including Woody Harrelson, Kate Mara, Eduardo Noriega, and Sir Ben Kingsley.

Transsiberian started production last week in Vilnius, Lithuania and will also shoot in Beijing and Russia. Germany's Universum Film GmbH co-produces the estimated $15-20m film.

Mortimer plays Jessie, a woman on a trip with her partner, played by Harrelson, on the famed Trans Siberian train from China to Moscow.

After befriending another couple, played by Mara and Noriega, events spiral out of control in a web of deception and murder. Kingsley plays a Russian police officer trailing the two couples.

The participation of Mortimer, who recently starred in Woody Allen's Match Point and The Pink Panther, was negotiated by Brillstein-Grey Entertainment, William Morris, and Harriet Robinson of ICM London. "We're delighted to have an actress of Emily's range and talents on board," the Filmax statement read. "We are obviously upset to have lost Samantha under such unfortunate circumstances, but we wish her a speedy recover and look forward to working with her some time in the future."
