Taxi tried veryhard to accelerate past last weekend's box office topper Shall We Dance' but just missed out.
Shall We Dance'took NZ$158,393 from 58 screens for BVI in its second weekend on releasecompared to Taxi's NZ$157,427 on 23less screens for 20th Century Fox. Taxi's screen average was the highest in the chart at NZ$4,498.
Third, Columbia TriStar's The Forgotten starring Julianne Moore, grossed 57.7% less than itdid in the previous weekend, which was its first outing in cinemas. It tookNZ$84,132 from 46 screens. Suffering an even bigger fall-off in its secondweekend was Harold And Kumar Go To WhiteCastle. It took NZ$28,400 from 25 screens for Roadshow, dropping from sixthto eleventh place.
Another Columbia TriStar film, Bad Santa, was the third and only other new face in the chart. Itgrossed A$54,585 from 25 screens to claim the eighth spot.
