Cillian Murphy and Daniel Craig are in talks to star in Damien Chazelle’s upcoming feature for Paramount.
Currently untitled, the film is reported to be a prison drama expected to shoot later this year. Chazelle will direct from his own script and produce with Olivia Hamilton for their Wild Chickens Productions company.
Since winning the lead actor Oscar for Oppenheimer last year, Murphy has starred in Berlin festival opening night entry Small Things Like These. He recently filmed The Immortal Man, the feature version of his long-running Peaky Blinders TV series, for Netflix.
Craig most recently starred in Luca Guadagnino’s Queer, for which he got Golden Globe and SAG nominations. Later this year he is set to reprise his role as Benoit Blanc in Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man, Rian Johnson’s third film in the Knives Out series.
Chazelle’s most recent feature was 2022’s Babylon, also for Paramount. He won the directing Oscar in 2017 for La La Land and was nominated for the adapted screenplay Oscar in 2015 for his Whiplash script.
Deadline first reported the casting talks.
