Vice-president Joe Biden met with representatives from the MPAA, NATO, IFTA, the DGA and the National Cable & Telecommunications Association in Washington DC on Thursday [10] to discuss gun violence in the wake of last month’s massacre at a Connecticut primary school.

The substance of the meeting was off-limits, however the entertainment lobbies released the following statement:

“The entertainment community appreciates being included in the dialogue around the Administration’s efforts to confront the complex challenge of gun violence in America.

“This industry has a longstanding commitment to provide parents the tools necessary to make the right viewing decisions for their families. We welcome the opportunity to share that history and look forward to doing our part to seek meaningful solutions.”

Separately, Biden met with top brass from the video game industry and the National Rifle Association. The Vice-President is due to present his findings to President Barack Obama next week.
