Amazon MGM Studios has closed a multi-year first-look film deal with David Heyman’s UK production company Heyday Films.
Under the deal, Amazon MGM Studios will have a first look at scripted and unscripted live-action and animated films that Heyman intends to produce.
The move marks the end of Heyman’s association with Warner Bros, after over three decades working with the studio. His first-look pact there, first signed almost 30 years ago, has come to an end.
The producer, who was named in Screen’s Brit 50 of the top UK independent production companies last year, is also producing Amazon’s upcoming James Bond film, directed by Denis Villeneuve and produced with Amy Pascal. That film does not fall under the first-look deal.
Heyman is one of the UK’s leading film producers, having produced all eight Harry Potter film adaptations and three Fantastic Beasts films, and the upcoming HBO Max Harry Potter television series.
His other credits include Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood, Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story, Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, and Paul King’s Paddington, Paddington 2 and Wonka.
Heyman’s upcoming titles this year include Taika Waititi’s Klara And The Sun and Luca Guadagnino’s Artificial.
