Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan will receive an honorary award at next month’s Red Sea International Film Festival.

The honorary prize recognises Khan’s ‘exceptional contribution to the film industry’, and will be awarded at the opening ceremony in Jeddah on December 1.

Nicknamed ‘King Khan’ and ‘the King of Bollywood’, Khan has appeared in over 100 films in a career over 30 years long. Among his most well-known Indian titles are romantic films Devdas and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, plus drama My Name Is Khan.

“Shah Rukh Khan remains one of the most successful superstars of Indian cinema and is beloved by audiences around the world,” said Mohammed Al Turki, CEO of the Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF).

“It’s wonderful to be among my fans from Saudi and the region who have always been huge supporters of my films,” added Khan. “I’m looking forward to celebrating the region’s talent and being a part of this exciting film community.”

RSIFF runs from December 1-10, playing 131 films from 61 countries in 41 languages. The festival opens with Working Title’s What’s Love Got To Do With It?.
