EXCLUSIVE: Italy’s Minerva Pictures has picked up international sales rights to Arnaldo Catinari’s The Poet And The Spy (Alla Fest Della Rivoluzione), which world premieres this month at the Rome Film Festival.
Minerva has also taken on sales for Greek-American director Louiza Zouzias’ feature debut, the psychological thriller Be A Good Girl, which is launching at Sitges Film Festival. Minerva is selling the title in association with TVCO.
The Poet And The Spy is set in 1919, in the heated political climate in Italy that precedes fascism. The drama is the story of Beatrice, a spy in the service of Russia, who arrives in Fiume on the day when the poet and war hero Gabriele D’Annunzio launches his revolution, and becomes involved in an attempt on his life.
Catinari’s debut feature, which premieres in Rome’s Grand Public section, is produced by Italian International Film with RAI Cinema. It stars Valentina Romani, Nicolas Maupas, Maurizio Lombardi, Darko Peric and Riccardo Scamarcio. O1 Distribution is handling Italian distribution.
Be A Good Girl is set in an isolated house in the mountains, where Anne leads a strange and obedient life alongside Edgar. However, she has grown too old for her husband’s liking so he kidnaps a teenager to replace her. The girl becomes Edgar’s new obsession, setting in motion a game of control and survival, one in which Anne has to decide between protecting the girl or preserving the life she knows.
Be A Good Girl is produced by Maria Kontogianni of Athens based Wild at Heart. The English-language feature stars Panos Koronis as Edgar, Zouzias as Anne and Lea Catania as the young girl Rebecca.
