
South African-born composer Trevor Jones will receive a lifetime achievement award at the 2026 World Soundtrack Awards (WSA), Film Fest Gent’s annual film music award ceremony.
Jones has composed the scores for more than 100 films and TV series, including The Last of The Mohicans, Notting Hill and Mississippi Burning.
He will be presented with his award on October 10 at the WSA ceremony and concert in Ghent, in which a selection of Jones’ work will be performed by the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brossé.
Jones was born in Cape Town, South Africa, before moving to London when he was 17 after earning a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music.
His breakthrough score was John Boorman’s Excalibur in 1981. His other notable scores include Dark Crystal, Angel Heart, Brassed Off, Cliffhanger, and he collaborated with David Bowie for Labyrinth. He has been nominated for three Baftas and two Golden Globes.
