Nigerian filmmaker and producer Jade Osiberu has signed a three-year deal with Prime Video to create and develop TV series and films exclusively for the streaming platform.

Osiberu, whose credits include Sugar Rush, Isoken and TV series Giddi Up, is the first African creative to sign an exclusive development deal with Prime Video. She will develop the projects with her production company Greoh Studios.

Gangs Of Lagos, Osiberu’s latest film, was recently screened at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF, September 8-18) to press and industry. The crime thriller, which follows a group of friends growing up in a Lagos neighbourhood, will also be the first Nigerian original to premiere on Prime Video later this year.

The film is one of two Nigerian originals the streaming platform announced last month. LOL: Last One Laughing Naija is an unscripted comedy series that sees 10 comedians compete to be the “last one laughing” and will be released later this year as well.
