Daisy Ridley, Sosie Bacon, and Simon Rex will star in the thriller/horror Get Rid Of It for Oscar-nominated producer David Lancaster. Upgrade will introduce the project to international buyers at the AFM next week.
Ry Russo-Young, whose credits include sci-fi teen thriller Before I Fall and Apple series Shrinking, will helm the Rumble Films project about Harper (Ridley) and her sister Jessie (Bacon) who go on a road trip and discover Harper is pregnant after a one-night-stand with a mysterious drifter named Miller (Rex).
The sisters find themselves fighting for survival when they discover the thing growing inside Harper may not be human. Gemma Holdway wrote the screenplay and production has been earmarked for the first quarter of 2027 in Spokane, Washington. CAA Media Finance and Range Select represent US rights.
Rumble Films founder Lancaster’s credits include Whiplash, Nightcrawler, and Drive. Ridley starred in the most recent Star Wars trilogy and Young Woman And The Sea, and will next be seen in Ti West’s Ebenezer opposite Johnny Depp.
Bacon was in the horror film Smile and recently appeared in SXSW selection Family Movie alongside Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, and Travis Bacon. She stars opposite Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis in the series Scarpetta. Rex starred in Red Rocket and Blink Twice.
“Propulsive and playful, this project’s strength is its compelling point of view and heart beneath the horror,” Russo-Young said. “I’m thrilled to bring it to life with such an extraordinary and gifted group of collaborators.”
