The Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) is set to return as a fully physical event from December 7-9 as part of the Singapore Media Festival (SMF).

After taking place online in 2020 and as a hybrid event in 2021, the 23rd edition is set to host more than 4,000 attendees in-person including buyers, sellers, producers, distributors, commissioners, financiers and tech companies from 60 countries.

The ATF market, which will be held at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands, will include 15 country pavilions, with France, Japan, South Korea and Turkey taking some of the biggest booths. India will take part for the first time through ESC, an export promotion council, while the Singapore pavilion will feature a delegation of 62 media companies.

Key exhibitors set to attend include ABS CBN Corporation, BEC Thailand, FremantleMedia Asia, ITV Studios, NBCUniversal Networks International, Paramount Global Content Distribution, Sony Pictures Television, Warner Bros Discovery and Zee Entertainment Enterprises.

First-time exhibitors at ATF include Bilibili from China, Error 404 from Hong Kong, Megabox from South Korea, Spain’s MoviStar and RVTE, and TwelveP from UAE.

Running concurrently with the market is a three-day conference, which will open with a spotlight session on Korea with industry leaders including Wavve CEO Lee Tae-hyun, Tving CEO Jay Yang, Spencer Thomas from CJ ENM’s global content strategy. It will be moderated by Jean Noh, Screen’s Asia editor.

Further sessions include the pitch competition, which will showcase more than 60 original concepts and ideas, including the new Indonesian pitch in partnership with Vidio and the new Thai pitch with Warner Bros Discovery. The other pitch programmes are ATF Chinese pitch in partnership with G.H.Y. Culture & Media, ATF Formats Pitch and ATF Animation Pitch.

Apart from ATF, SMF also comprises the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF), Singapore Comic Con (SGCC) and the new CreatorWorld (CW), which focuses on the ecosystem of online creators and influencers. SMF is hosted by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and runs from November 24 to December 11.

IMDA unveiled details of SMF through two panel discussions on the rise of Asian storytelling and the future of Asian content with representatives from various SMF strands such as SGIFF programme director Thong Kay Wee, film producer Tan Si En, Justin Deimen of 108 Media, Johnny Lau, creator of the Mr Kiasu comics series, and social media personality Ng Ming Wei.
