All eight Harry Potter films have been added to Sky’s portfolio for three months over the crucial Christmas period.

It is the latest deal by the broadcaster, strengthening its catalogue of exclusive content. The broadcaster recently did a deal with Warner Bros which will see The Dark Knight and Lord of the Rings only being shown on Sky Movie channels.

The Harry Potter films will also be available through Sky’s on demand service and on Sky Go. The movies were previously shown on ITV.

Sky Movies director Ian Lewis said: “We’re delighted to be extending our partnership with Warner Bros’. to deliver Sky Movies customers exclusive access to the entire Harry Potter collection, which will not be available on any other TV channel or streaming service this Christmas.”

Sky also recently poached the rights to the James Bond franchise from ITV. As part of the deal it has launched a channel dedicated to the films based on Ian Fleming’s novels.
