Channing Tatum will star and Oscar Isaac and Zazie Beetz will co-star in the crime thriller Kockroach, with Black Bear kicking off talks with international buyers at TIFF next week.
CAA Media Finance and Range Select will co-represent US rights.
Matt Ross, who directed Captain Fantastic, will helm the story based on the book by William Lashner, writing as Tyler Knox about a mysterious stranger who takes on New York’s criminal elite, transforming himself into a larger-than-life crime boss in a city where power is everything.
Jonathan Ames adapted the screenplay with revisions by Ross. Andrew Lazar is producing through his Mad Chance. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in January in Australia.
Isaac stars in Gullermo del Toro’s Frankenstein that gets it world premiere in Venice on Saturday (August 30).
Tatum stars in TIFF Gala Presentation Roofman from Derek Cianfrance that gets it world premiere on September 6.
Beetz’s credits include voice cast in current release The Bad Guys 2, as well as the Joker films, and TV series Atlanta.
