ShortsTV, the UK short film channel, will screen a selection of Academy Award-nominated short films and festival shorts at London dance music festival, Lovebox Weekender.

Festivalgoers can watch nine short movies throughout the weekend, which takes place on July 18 and 19. The screenings will include Oscar-nominated animated shorts Oktapodi, which follows two Octopi as they try to escape through the streets of a small Greek village, Maestro,  the eerie tale of a Maestro and his mechanical assistant, and Gopher Broke in which a gopher discovers there is no such thing as a free lunch.

British TV actors James Fox and Robert Hardy star in the Sundance entry Goodbye Mr Snuggles in which two elderly chums set off for a days’ painting in the English countryside and are confronted by a manic, gun-toting clown.

“The unique thing about the relationship between music and film is that they both share a dedicated and energetic audience of fans.” said Carter Pilcher, chief executive of Shorts International, which operates the channel.

He added: “These fabulous short movies are the perfect match for musical acts such as Groove Armada and up-and-comers Dananananakroyd. It will be great to see the Oscar Nominated Maestro open for Duran Duran.”
