The Inaugural award from the Louisiana Film Prize Festival will go to global filmmakers whose short film must shoot in the Shreveport-Bossier area.

The top 20 entries will screen at the festival, set to run from Oct 5-7, executive director Gregory Kallenberg said in an announcement on Tuesday (Mar 6).

The grand prize winner will be selected from a panel of judges including Steve Beckman from Cinetic and Jason Neulander, founder of the Salvage Vanguard Theater in Austin, Texas.

According to a press release the Shreveport-Bossier region in Northwest Louisiana has hosted more than 100 film and television projects in the last five years, among them Drive Angry and Straw Dogs.
