Peter Chan's musical Perhaps Love dominated the 11th Hong Kong GoldenBauhinia Awards (GBA) last night, winning six awards including best director,best actress for Zhou Xun, best cinematography, bestart direction, best film music and best film song.

Thebest film award went to Johnnie To's gangster thriller Election which also bagged best actorfor Simon Yam and tied with Crazy 'N theCity for best screenplay.

Car racing drama InitialD also picked up three awards: best supporting actor for Anthony Wong, bestediting and best sound design.

Pang Ho Cheung's Isabella,which received the most nominations of 10 (tied with Election), only took home best newperformer for actress Isabella Leong.

For the first time, the Hong Kong Film CriticsAssociation, the event's organizers for the past ten years, has set up a new GoldenBauhinia Awards Development Foundation for the overall management of GBA. Theevent was also given a new time slot in summer, instead of clashing with themore established Hong Kong Film Awards in March or April.

Another new feature is nominations are also open toyet-to-be released films - as long as the print is ready for viewing. The PangBrothers' horror thriller Re-cycle isa case in point which received the best creative award.

This year, a new online poll was launched whichenabled the public to vote for their favourite filmsand actors. Perhaps Love was votedbest film while Andy Lau for Wait 'Til You're Older and Lee Sinje for Re-cyclewere votedbest actor and best actress.

The awards ceremony was held at the Hong KongInternational Trade and Exhibition Centre.
