Pernille Fischer Christensen's Silver Bear winning debutfeature A Soap has been acquired byStrand Releasing for US and by Theodora Films for Italian rights. The US deal was struck between Jon Gerransof Strand Releasing and Natja Rosnerof Trust Film Sales.

The film has its US premiere this week at New Director's/New Films onSaturday in New York.

"Teodora film is happy tohave signed a deal with Trust Film for the Berlin prizewinner A Soap, since we feel it will be anexcellent follow up to the current slate of Danish releases after the enormoussuccesses of Inheritance and Brothers," CesarePetrillo from Theodora Films commented in a statement. Teodora film willrelease this summer just after Manslaughter."

Since being introduced to buyers in Berlin, A Soaphas been cleaning up in the international market. Sales already concluded byTrust include A-Film Distribution/Benelux Countries, California Films/Brazil, Cinemac/Colombia,CineVideo/Mexico, Blanco & Travieso/Venezuela,Overseas Movie Distribution/Singapore, Mongkolfilm/Thailand,Cineplex/Taiwan, Independenta Film ' 97/Romania.

A Soap is the debut feature of the highly rated Ms. FischerChristensen. It is also one of the first films made through New Danish Screen,the groundbreaking scheme launched by the Danish Film Institute in partnershipwith Danish broadcasters DR-TV and TV2/Danmark to unearth new talent.
