Chris Wright, chairman ofradio group Chrysalis, has acquired a majority stake in UK sales agent andco-producer Portman Film and TV.

The acquisition is apersonal investment by Wright, who remains chairman of Chrysalis, and alsobecomes executive chairman of Portman with immediate effect.

The major property ofPortman is the current ITV television show Doc Martin, starring MartinClunes.

Current film projects on itsslate include Intermission, Bullet Boy, Omagh, A Way Of Life and Festival.

Wright founded Chrysalis inthe 1960s. He owns 26% of the group and has transformed it into one of the fourlargest commercial radio broadcasters in the UK. The group sold its TVproduction arm to a consortium led by former Granada chief executive SteveMorrison last year and is expected to become a pure radio group.
